If you’re anything like me (how I used to feel, anyway), you will find yourself feeling like you have no time for yourself on the weekends. You may struggle to balance your family and personal needs, alongside the chores that have built up over the working week. As a working mum, I know how hard it can be to juggle it all. I have taken a lot of time to figure out how to make my weekends productive and enjoyable for all the family and want to share it with you:
Plan ahead - plan your weekends as a working mum:
One of the best ways to make sure your weekends are enjoyable is to plan ahead. I know it may seem like you’ve juggled scheduled time slots all week and you just want to wing it over the weekends and let everyone laze around the house. Certainly this is necessary some times, but it’s when we spend our weekends doing nothing continuously that we will feel unfulfilled come Monday. So instead think of your priorities, delegate tasks and schedule your time. Is the weekend your grocery time, can you make it something the family does together? Or is it easier to have daddy take the kids to the park while you get the groceries done? Is getting outside and getting active important? Then plan a walk in your local park.
Limit the working mum must-dos:
Prioritise your to-do list, ensure everything you do is essential and can’t be done on a weekday evening. Limiting your must-dos will free up more time and leave you with sufficient energy to enjoy it.
Plan some Fun:
Plan a fun activity for the whole family, or plan some time for you and your OH, or with some friends. Enjoying fun and memorable experiences will enrich your life.
Remember, making the most of your weekends as a working mum is possible if you plan ahead, limit the must-dos and plan some fun. What are some of the things you do to make the most of your weekends? Please share them in the comments section below.
