The Power of Intention

Have you ever wondered how some people seem to achieve their goals effortlessly, while others struggle to make any progress? How some people live with joy and passion, while others feel stuck and unhappy? I have been on both sides of this, and it got me thinking what the differences were in each scenario. What was my mindset, how clear was my headspace?

The answer may lie in the power of intention. Intention is the mental state that represents a commitment to carrying out an action or achieving something in the future. It is more than just a wish or a hope; it is a clear and specific vision of what you want to create or accomplish. It is the driving force behind your actions and the energy that shapes your reality. I have always been one for writing out lists and targets, intentions of what I wanted to achieve. This blog being on of them (I have been writing drafts and ideas for years with the intention of someday publishing them all... so there is proof in the pudding. Intention setting can and will work!



I have often say the phrase "that is not what I intended".
If that is not what you intended then why is that what was portrayed? Often the answer to this question, because I have not made a clear intention in my own head before I began discussing the matter.

  • Creativity: When you have a creative intention of what you want to express or explore, you are more likely to tap into your imagination and intuition. You also have a playful and curious attitude that stimulates your creativity and innovation.

  • Resilience: When you have a resilient intention of how you want to cope or grow from challenges, you are more likely to bounce back and learn from failures. You also have a positive and optimistic mindset that helps you overcome difficulties and setbacks.

So how can you create and maintain powerful intentions that can transform your life? Here are some tips:


  • Write them down: Writing down your intentions can help you clarify them and make them more concrete. It can help you review them regularly and track your progress. You can use a journal, a planner, a sticky note, or any other tool that works for you.

  • Visualise them: Visualising your intentions can help you activate your emotions and your senses to make them more vivid. It can assist you in attracting the resources and opportunities that match your intentions. You can use images, videos, music, or any other media that inspires you.

  • Affirm them: Affirming your intentions can help you reinforce them and make them more believable. It can also help you to overcome negative thoughts and doubts that may sabotage your intentions. You can use positive statements, mantras, affirmations, or any other words that empower you.

  • Align them: Aligning your intentions with your values and purpose can help you make them more meaningful and authentic. It can aid in avoiding conflicts and contradictions that may undermine your intentions. You can use exercises, quizzes, assessments, or any other tools that help you discover your values and purpose.
